Garlic Knots

Golden-brown, buttery garlic knots with fresh herbs and coarse salt, served with a side of melted butter for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp coarse salt
  • 1/4 cup melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, melted butter, and garlic to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 6 equal portions.
  6. Roll each portion into a rope, then tie into a knot. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Brush knots with melted butter and sprinkle with parsley and coarse salt.
  8. Let rise for 15 minutes while the oven preheats to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Brush with additional melted butter before serving.
