Ingredients

  • 500 grams all-purpose flour
  • 300 ml warm milk
  • 10 grams dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 75 grams unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • 1 large egg
  • 150 grams brown sugar
  • 50 grams granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 100 grams powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, dry yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add 500 grams all-purpose flour, 1 tsp salt, melted butter, egg, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon and 50 grams granulated sugar for the filling.
  6. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  7. Spread the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, mix 100 grams powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 2-3 tablespoons milk to make the glaze.
  12. Drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
